Green Tables
Green Tables is LDEI’s farm-to-fork outreach initiative, exploring and expanding crucial relationships between LDEI members and the farms and farmers, restaurants and chefs, kitchen tables and home cooks who comprise their local and regional food systems.
The New England chapter is heavily Green Tables focused, looking to expand membership to include farmers and food systems advocates, offering events that bring awareness to various food systems topics, and hosting a food systems focused Legacy Award.
LDEI Awards
The International organization has four award programs:
M.F.K. Fisher Award – Named for America’s leading culinary writer, this monetary grant awarded every year, recognizes, and supports women who are doing groundbreaking work in the areas of food, fine beverage, nutrition and health.
Grande Dame Award – Honors women of exceptional achievement and exemplary professional lives. Julia Child was the first recipient of the LDEI Grande Dame Award. It is given every two years at the LDEI Conference, alternating with the LDEI The Woman of Purpose Award.
Women of Purpose Award – This Award celebrates a visionary Dame who has made strides towards improving our food system and will be presented every other year at the LDEI Conference, alternating with the LDEI Grande Dame Award
Legacy Awards - The Legacy Awards, supported by The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts, were established in 2009 by Les Dames d’Escoffier International with one goal in mind: to provide targeted mentorship opportunities for professional women in the food, beverage, and hospitality industries. The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts generously supports our Legacy Awards program.
“LDEI’s Legacy Awards continue to provide opportunities for women in the professional food world to develop their careers in ways Julia Child could only dream of when she was starting out. The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts is proud to support this important mentoring program, which we think Julia would call ‘a triumph.'”
